8 African Startups Accepted Into 2021 GreenHouse Lab Fintech Accelerator

by 23 August 2021

GreenHouse Lab has inducted eight African fintech companies into the 2021 GHL Fintech Accelerator program.

GreenHouse Lab (GHL) is the Fintech accelerator by African fintech investment fund and platform GreenHouse Capital’s (GHC)

The six-week program is already underway, with corporate partners such as Amazon Web Services, Google for Startups, and InsiderPR holding sessions.

The startups come from a number of fintech sectors, including fintech infrastructure, personal wealth management, cross-border remittances, and diaspora services.

The statement noted that about 40% of startups backed by GHC have gone on to be accepted into international accelerators such as 500 Startups, Y Combinator, and Techstars. Founders of these startups will be directly involved in the 2021 GHL Fintech Accelerator based on GHC’s vision of “founders backing founders.”

GHC will be directly investing US$10,000 into the accepted startups. An additional US$50,000 will be made available from the GHC Founders Fund if these startups are accepted into a top global accelerator after having completed the 2021 GHL Fintech Accelerator. The GHC Founders Fund is seeded by African tech founders through their own capital.

“As a founder, the only people who truly know what it’s like to start and scale a business are other founders. The experienced team at GHC understands this truth and has developed their VC model around it.

We are proud to support the GHL Accelerator’s Founder Fund because we believe that founder-led capital dedicated to African startups will help companies develop in a uniquely productive way,”
