Binance Pay has extended its reach in South Africa following a partnership with Zapper, one of the country’s payment providers.
The integration allows more than 31,000 additional merchants across South Africa to accept cryptocurrency payments through Binance Pay.
Binance Pay is a contactless and borderless cryptocurrency payment feature built into the Binance app.
It enables users to send, receive, and spend digital assets instantly without gas fees, whether peer-to-peer or with participating merchants.
The service currently supports over 400 digital assets for personal transactions and more than 100 cryptocurrencies for merchant payments. To date, it has been adopted by more than 45 million users worldwide.
For South African users, the integration means cryptocurrencies can now be used for everyday spending, such as meals, retail purchases, fuel, and online bookings.

“Binance Pay is about more than crypto; it’s about giving South Africans freedom and flexibility in how they spend their money,”
said Yande Nomvete of Binance South Africa.
Zapper, which is widely used in South Africa for its QR code–based payment system, already supports millions of customers at restaurants, retailers, fuel stations, and online merchants.
The integration now enables those same users to pay using cryptocurrencies through Binance Pay.
Participating merchants include well-known national chains such as KFC, Wimpy, Mugg & Bean, Dis-Chem, Baby City, Coricraft, Yuppiechef, and FlySafair, along with fuel providers including Total and Sasol.
To coincide with the launch, Binance Pay has introduced a 50% cashback promotion for transactions made at participating Zapper merchants from September 9.
The promotion is intended to encourage users to trial the service and to highlight the potential role of digital assets in everyday transactions.
